As countries across the globe await coronavirus vaccines, top US health expert, Anthony Fauci, assures that doses of vaccines for coronavirus will be made available in December or early January.
Fauci disclosed this in a Facebook chat Thursday, stating that it would be revealed in December if an effective vaccine had been developed.
Two companies have been charged with developing the vaccines - Moderna and Pfizer, working hard to produce a vaccine that would ameliorate the effects of the pandemic, especially on the US that is the hardest-hit by the pandemic.
On Thursday, the United States recorded not less than 74,000 new coronavirus cases, with over 228,194 fatalities recorded so far, and 8.9 million cases in total.
Fauci revealed that once the vaccines were ready, they will be made available to those in critical conditions first.
He put the timeline for the availability of the vaccine to be “by the end of December or the beginning of January.”
The United States placed an order of millions of COVID-19 vaccine doses with Pfizer and Moderna.
Moderna was quoted as saying that it was “on track to deliver interim data from its large, late-stage trial next month”.
