Coronavirus: We Have No Recorded Case - NPA To NCDC

The Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) has reacted to claims by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), stating that it has no case of coronavirus.

The number of cases recorded in Nigeria has surged to 65, after the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced 14 new cases in the country on Thursday.

NCDC had said in a tweet that it had detected the virus in 6 of the 14 returning travelers into the country.

The tweet states, “Of the 14, 6 were detected on a vessel, 3 are returning travellers into Nigeria and 1 is close contact of a confirmed case.”

But to counter that claim, the NPA debunked the allegations, saying that it had no recorded cases.

The NPA tweeted, “Hello @NCDCgov. In respect to the 6 new cases that “were detected on a vessel” in Lagos, the Authority in collaboration with Port Health has not recorded any confirmed cases to date.

“@NCDCgov To enable verification and proper record keeping, kindly avail us with specific details on the name of the Vessel the passengers were on board, and the Terminal or Jetty where they berthed. #CovidNGR #COVID19.”
