Council Begins Enforcement On Ban On Sale Of Drugs, Alcohol

The Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC) has begun enforcement on the  ban on the sale of drugs and alcohol in parks, directing operators in the territory to shut down their daily business activities by 7 pm.

The Coordinator, AMMC, Umar Shaibu who stated this on Wednesday, noted that it is set to commence enforcement of the 2019 FCT park policy, while expressing dissatisfaction over the conversion of parks and gardens to drinking and drug peddling joints.

Shaibu warned operators that the council would go all out to ensure that such violations which contradict the FCT Park Policy are checkmated henceforth as they constitute a public nuisance.

He noted that the FCT Administration has mandated the Parks and Recreation Department to recover all outstanding revenue owed the government by the operators of parks in the territory.

Shaibu however added that the recovery of the outstanding revenues will be carried out with a human face as the administration has granted indebted operators discounts and the option of paying in installments.
