Study tour participants from the National Institute for Security Studies (NISS) in Abuja have rated Kebbi state high in Agriculture.

The participants concluded that the state has the capacity to feed Nigeria, not just with rice, but with other grains as well.

The team visited the state's four emirates and expressed their gratitude to Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for his support for farmers and his encouragement to increase yields.

During the tour, the team visited various agricultural sites, such as WACOT Rice Mill and the tomato processing factory at Ngaski Local Government Area, among others.

At a dinner party hosted in their honor by the Governor at the State's Government House in Birnin Kebbi, on Friday night, Isaac Shotayo, the team leader, expressed the team's assessment of the enormous fertile land, potentials, and prospects of massive agricultural production in Kebbi state.

He also thanked the Governor for the hospitality accorded to them during their visit.

This was contained in a statement on Saturday by Yahaya Sarki, spokesperson to the governor.

During the dinner, Professor Muhammad Abubakar Ka’oje, the coordinator of Kebbi Ethanol Bio-fuel Project, announced that the shareholders' agreement has already been signed, and the board of the company has been inaugurated.

Ka'oje said the ground-breaking ceremony for the commencement of production will be performed in the next two weeks.

He added that officials of the project have visited India to inspect machinery for bio-fuel production, which will use independent electricity supply that will be enjoyed by the host community as part of the corporate social responsibility of the company.

Meanwhile, Governor Bagudu welcomed any valuable information on better performance from members of the study tour about their assessment of the state.

He emphasized the importance of study tours around the nation, such as the one embarked upon by the course participants, aimed at exposing the vast economic, agricultural and human potentials of the country.

The governor requested Nigerians to rededicate themselves to nation-building and encourage youths to attain greater heights in societal development.

Present at the dinner were the Secretary to the State Government, Babale Umar Yauri, the Acting Head of Service, Alhaji Safiyanu Garba Bena, Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries, Special Advisers and other top government officials.
