A court sitting in Kano State has adjourned the case of Sheikh Abduljabbar Nasir Kabara to September 2nd, 2021.

The Judge, Justice Ibrahim Sarki Yola adjourned the case on Wednesday after the second hearing since the trial began in Kano.

The Kano State Government has filed a lawsuit against Sheikh Abduljabbar for allegedly insulting the Prophet Muhammad.

The incident has caused a great deal of controversy across the country and not just in Kano State.

Justice Ibrahim said the hearing was adjourned because all the facts presented were too difficult for him to decide immediately.

He added that there is a need to review them, and know the position he will take on the charges filed by the government against Sheikh Abduljabbar.

Government lawyers demanded that they be allowed to read new charges against Sheikh Abduljabbar, but his lawyers criticized the move.

Abduljabbar's lawyers challenged the new charges filed by the state's lawyers, stating that the lawyers were not eligible to be at the lower court.

The state's lawyers said Abduljabbar's lawyers should have waited for the new charges to be read out before filing another complaint.

Adding that it is legally necessary to read the charge which, if completed, could be criticized or supported by any party.

Abduljabbar's first appearance in court was on June 16.

The judge gave a three-day option of September 1, 2 or 6, 2021 as the date for return to court, whereupon September 2 was finally chosen.
