An Appeal Court sitting in Abuja on Friday has dismissed the appeal filed by Maryam Sanda for lacking merit.
The court affirmed the death sentence passed by the Federal Capital Territory High Court on Sanda in January 2020, for allegedly stabbing her husband, Bilyaminu Bello (a nephew of former PDP Chairman, Alhaji Bello Halliru Muhammad, in 2017), to death on November 18, 2017, over alleged infidelity.

After the lower court found her guilty of killing Bello, she approached the appellate court to upturn the judgement.
According to the notice of appeal filed on her behalf by her team of counsel led by Ricky Tarfa (SAN), Maryam Sanda said the judge erred in the judgement of the trial court, saying it was completely “a miscarriage of justice.”
