Court Imprisons Rep Member For Lying

A magistrate court has found a lawmaker guilty of lying under oath while filling the CD001 Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) form prior to the 2019 elections.

AllNews gathered that a Magistrate Court in Wuse, Zone 6,of the Federal Teritory (FCT), Abuja sentenced the member of the House of Representatives, Victor Mela, to one-month imprisonment for perjury.

The lawmaker who represents Billiri/Balanga federal constituency (of Gombe State) was, however, given an option of fine.

He swore to an affidavit thrice, denying citizenship of another country while he has a British passport.

He claimed he did not have dual citizenship while possessing a British passport which shows he is a citizen of Britain.
