Court Orders CBN To Unfreeze Bank Accounts Of 20 #ENDSARS Pr

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja Wednesday ordered the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to unfreeze the bank accounts of the 20 #ENDSARS promoters, whose account were frozen by the court order of November 4, 2020.

The CBN by an ex-parte motion prayed the court to unfreeze the bank accounts of Bolatito Rachael Oduala and 19 others who participated in the October 2020 #ENDSARS protest to end police brutality in Nigeria, reports said. According to the apex bank, the action was taken to investigate amongst others, the allegation of terrorism funding levelled against the 20 promoters of the nationwide protest.

Justice Ahmed Mohammed gave the ruling following the agreement reached by parties in the suit to amicably resolve the matter. The trial judge held amongst others that all processes filed in respect to the case are deemed to have been withdrawn. The court accordingly set aside the court order of  November 4, 2020.
