A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to detain a former Attorney General of the Federation, Mohammed Adoke, for 14 days.
The presiding Judge, Othman Musa, on Tuesday, approved the ex-parte application filed by counsel to the anti-graft agency, Fatima Musa.
Adoke arrived in Nigeria from Dubai on Thursday, following pressure from the EFCC. although, the Emirati heads said that they did not put any pressure on him to leave Dubai and that he was leaving on his own volition.
Adoke is facing money laundering charges in relation to the auctioning of an oil field in Nigeria to the tune of $1.3 billion dollars in 2011.
In November, Interpol arrested Adoke in Dubai, in connection with his Malabu oil deal.
Adoke served as Minister of Justice from 2010 to 2015.
