Court Remand 30-Year-Old Man For Defiling 13-Year-Old Girl In Osun

On Thursday, a 30-year-old man, Abdulrasaq Sodiq, was remanded by an Osun Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl.

According to the Police Prosecutor, Inspector Adeoye Kayode, the accused had unlawful sexual intercourse with one Olajide Rukayat.

He also said that the suspect committed the offence at Sabo area, Osogbo, on September 11, 2020, at about 8:00 pm, adding that the offence is punishable under Section 360 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol II Law of Osun state 2020.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.

The Defense Counsel, Okobe Najite, applied for the bail of the accused in the most liberal term.

Speaking on the bail application, the prosecutor opposed, arguing that granting the accused bail will send a bad signal to the society, owing to the rise in rape cases.

However, Magistrate Opeyemi Badmus ruled that the accused be remanded in Ilesa Correction Centre.

He also adjourned the hearing of the case till October 14, 2020.
