Court Remands 38-Year-Old Man For Allegedly Raping 7-Month-Old Daughter

A Makurdi Chief Magistrate Court, on Friday, remanded a 38-year-old man identified as Mr. Simon Emeka for allegedly raping his seven-month-old daughter.

At the hearing, the Police Prosecuting Officer, Sergeant Friday Kanshio announced to the court that the incident was reported to the police station on June 1st, 2020 by one Josephine Habba of number 34 Modern Market Road Makurdi.

According to Josephine's narration,  she went to Jestic Hospital in Makurdi with her daughter for treatment only to meet the wife of the suspect, Mrs. Favour Emeka crying while narrating to the nurses that her seven-month-old baby girl was raped by her husband Simon Emeka.

Kanshio noted that the suspect was arrested on that account and according to the law, the crime committed by the suspect is contrary to section 391 and 284 of the Penal Code Law of Benue State.

He pleaded for another date to enable the prosecution to prove its case as the police command were still on the issue at providing more investigation on the matter 

Delivering judgment, the trial Magistrate, Mr. Isaac Ajim ordered that the suspect be remanded at the Nigerian Correctional center as the case has been adjourned until August 31, 2020.
