Court Remands Duo Accused Of Plucking 12-Year-Old's Eye In C

Court Jails Man For Stealing Generator

A Chief Magistrate in Kano Muhammmad Jibril, has remanded two persons accused of removing the right eye of a 12-year-old boy in correctional center.

The accused, Furera Abubakar, a 107-year-old woman and Isah Hassan, 17-year-old boy allegedly plucked the right eye of Mustapha Yunusa, a 12-year-old boy with sharp knife to make a disappearing charm.

According to the First Information Report (FIR) the duo are standing trial on a two count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy and attempt to commit culpable homicide.

Prosecution alleged that the defendants committed the offence on March 19, at Rimin Hamza Quarters, Tarauni Local Government Kano.

”On the same date at about 9:00 pm, the defendants conspired, deceived and lured the 12-year-old boy to a nearby stream and plucked out his right eye with a sharp knife.

“As a result, the victim sustained grievous hurt and was rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital where he was admitted for treatment."

The plea of the defendants were not taken, pending when the case diary will be produced from the Ministry for Justice.

According to the Prosecutor, Barrister Lamido Abba Soron Dinki, Principal State Counsel (Kano State Ministry of Justice) further said the offences contravened Sections 97 and 229 of the Penal Code.

The trial Magistrate ordered the remand of the defendants in correctional centre.

He adjourned the case to April 11, for further mention.
