On Wednesday, Russia recorded more than 10,000 new COVID-19 cases, making the country continue on a trend that positions it as the country with the second-highest infection rates.
Over the last 24 hours, Russia's health officials recorded a total of 10,028 fresh coronavirus cases, making the total number of infections 242,271.
The country's Minister of Health, Mikhail Murashko, briefing the Russian Parliament, said that over 100,000 infected Russians have been admitted to hospitals and that the cases are either suspected or confirmed.
The number of patients in need of critical attention, hooked up to ventilators, is 1,500.

Russia has lost six coronavirus patients over the past week in fires that happened at hospitals in Saint Petersburg and Moscow.
The fires have been reportedly linked to ventilators produced locally, with health authorities in Russia halting the use of the particular product that has been linked to the incendiaries.
Russia's Parliament has begun easing the lockdown ordered nationwide in a bid to slow the spread of the coronavirus; this move comes as Russia falls just one step behind the United States, making it the country with the second-highest number of infections.
