President Fernandez's COVID-19 diagnosis was confirmed by antigen and PCR tests during the weekend, as revealed by his medical team. His health reportedly remains stable and asymptomatic, with parameters within normal ranges.
Argentina was the first Latin American nation to distribute the Sputnik V vaccine in late December with the purchase of about 25 million doses. Fernandez got his first dose of the vaccine on January 21, and his second in February, according to a press officer at the Presidential Casa Rosada.
Sputnik V is said to be 91.6 percent against infection and 100 percent effective against severe cases. Argentina has reported 52,286 cases of the virus, with 1,234 deaths.
