COVID-19: Buhari Gives Permission To Ganduje To Ease Lockdow

 

The Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, has said that his petition for the relaxation of the lockdown imposed on the state had been granted by President Muhammadu Buhari.

During the president's public address, on Monday, a 14-day lockdown order was imposed on Kano State owing to a peculiar rise in the number of deaths recorded in the state.

The governor had expressed his satisfaction with the announcement but later appealed to the president to ease the imposed lockdown.

The governor's Chief Press Secretary, Abba Anwar, disclosed on Saturday that the governor had received the president's permission to ease the lockdown on Mondays and Thursdays.

The governor was quoted as saying, “We sought for the consent of Mr President on how to relax the lockdown, to allow for some free movements of people but within stipulated hours of the agreed days.

“Due to that, I am hereby making an announcement that each Monday in the lockdown period between 10 am to 4 pm people are allowed to come out and make some purchases. So, also on Thursdays between 10 am to 4 pm people are allowed to be out within this stipulated time."
