The Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 on Saturday released the passport numbers of the 100 travelers who failed to undergo the compulsory coronavirus (COVID-19) test after returning to the country.
AllNews had reported that the PTF Chairman, Boss Mustapha on Tuesday said Nigeria will suspend passports of travelers who evade COVID-19 testing till June 2021 to serve as a deterrent to others.
Boss Mustapha who made this known while speaking at the COVID-19 routine briefing also added that the center will also publish the passports of the first 100 passengers who failed to undergo the compulsory COVID-19 test after returning to the country.
He said, “With effect from 1st January 2021 the passports of the first 100 passengers that failed to take their day seven post-arrival PCR test will be published in the national dailies. The passports, as a deterrent, will also be suspended till June 2021.”
Passengers arriving into the country are required to proceed into self-isolation and carry out a COVID-19 test seven days after arrival.

According to the report on Twitter, the PTF said the restrictions started from January 1, 2021, and would last till June 30, 2021. The PTF also said the defaulting passengers have been notified and will be prevented from out of the country during the period.
This online news platform understands that Nigeria has recorded over 85,000 Covid infections including more than 1,200 associated fatalities, according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.
The country, which battles the second wave of the pandemic, is also mulling travel restrictions on flights from the United Kingdom and South Africa to curb the new strain of the virus.
