New cases of infection have resurfaced in China as seven people, five Nigerians included, have tested positive for the virus after eating from the same restaurant.
This news comes after China tries to get back to its normal daily activities, triggering fear of a fresh outbreak, and leading Chinese authorities to look into the fresh cases of transmission.
Four of the infected had recently eaten out of the same restaurant more than once, according to the Daily Mail Online, while the health commission in Guangzhou said that the restauranteur and her daughter had also tested positive for the virus.
The COVID-19 virus saw its origin from a wet market in Wuhan, the epicentre of the outbreak, with multiple people complaining of suffering from a ‘mysterious viral pneumonia.’

The city with fresh cases is just 1,028 kilometres away from the epicentre of the outbreak.
Following the news of the outbreak, authorities in the Yuexiu District, where the restaurant is situated, had enforced tough measures to curb the spread.
Activities at the restaurant where the fresh outbreak reportedly began has been shut down for inspection.This shutdown also affects other nearby restaurants.
