The President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa, has said that the lockdown imposed on the country as part of the measures to check the spread of the novel coronavirus in the country will continue to hold and will be revisited every two weeks.
The lockdown in the country has seen a reduction in the cases of transmission in the country, with the numbers below initial predictions.
Zimbabwe has carried out over 25,000 tests, recording a total of 42 cases, with only 4 deaths.
According to the president, the World Health Organisation has categorised the transmission of the disease in Zimbabwe as “sporadic, with one or more cases imported or locally detected.

“This may suggest that despite the small numbers tested, our country might have a reduced COVID-19 trajectory,”
“Zimbabwe will, therefore, continue on … lockdown for an indefinite period. We shall have two-week interval reviews to assess progress or lack of it.”
