COVID-19: Nasarawa Lawmaker Dies Of Disease

Nasarawa State Assembly has lost a member, Adamu Suleiman, to coronavirus.

Adamu is Nasarawa State's first fatality from the disease since it reported its index case.

The news of his death was revealed by the Governor of the state, Abdullahi Sule, while addressing journalists in the state capital of Lafia.

The governor also stated that prior to his death, Adamu awaited is test results which came back posiitve, adding that after his test results came back, Adamu's immediate family members were put in isolation.

Abdullahi also stated that blood samples of the lawmaker's family members were taken for testing by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

The remains of Adamu have been buried without following the guidelines of WHO on the burial of patients who died from coronavirus, as his status was unknown at the time of his death.

The state governor assured that everyone involved in teh burial of the lawmaker will be put in isolation and tested for the disease.

Following the death of lawmaker, the state House of Assembly will be shutdown for a decontamination exercise.
