COVID-19: Nigeria Records More Deaths, 1398 New Cases

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) has recorded additional 1,398 new cases of COVID-19 infections with nine death across the country. 

The NCDC made this known via its official Twitter handle on Wednesday night January 13, 2021, in its daily update. 

In the last few days, over 1,000 new cases have been recorded across the country on a daily basis.

According to the disease control agency, over 9,000 fresh cases have been confirmed in the last seven days.

The new infections recorded from 22 States and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja in the last 24 hours makes the total active cases exceed 20,000. The new deaths recorded on Wednesday makes it a total of 58 fatalities confirmed within the past one week, with an overall death toll of 1,382.

As usual, Lagos takes the lead with 542 cases follows by FCT, Abuja with 131 new cases, other cases are recorded from Oyo-120, Rivers-113,  Plateau-111,  Kaduna-71,  Kwara-71.

Akwa Ibom-34, Sokoto-31, Benue-28, Ogun-27, Kano-26, Kebbi-17, Osun-12, Nasarawa-11, Delta-10, Gombe-10, Bayelsa-9, Borno-9, Edo-8, Ekiti-3, Jigawa-2 and Katsina-2. 

Meanwhile, 981 patients were discharged on Wednesday -- 317 in Lagos, 241 in Kwara and 134 in Plateau.

A total of 103,999 cases have now been confirmed across the country, but 82,555 patients have recovered.
