COVID-19: No New Cases Reported In China

Since its first set of cases were reported in January, China, on Saturday recorded no new coronavirus cases within the past 24 hours.

This comes after leaders of the Communist Party said that in the fight against the virus, they had made "major achievements."

The coronavirus first broke out in Wuhan, a central Chinese city in the Hubei Province, but after China's COVID-19 cases peaked in the month of February, reported cases have been on a steady decline.

China's total death toll stands at 4,634, much less than countries with smaller populations.

China's Premier, Li Keqiang, said of the milestone reached by the country, that China had “made major strategic achievements in our response to COVID-19.”

Although, Li Keqiang noted that China still had some "immense" challenges it needed to overcome.

Wuhan local authorities have been accused of trying to silence doctors over spreading information regarding the outbreak of the virus at the onset.
