COVID-19: Ortom Reveals Latest Test Result, Dishes Out Advic

Samuel Ortom, the Governor of Benue State has revealed that his last COVID-19 test result came back positive.

The "asymptomatic" number one citizen of Benue State advised those who have come in contact with him lately to go for test too.

Ortom expressed optimism that he will beat the virus.

"This is to confirm that the result of my last COVID-19 test returned positive," Ortom disclosed via his known Twitter handle on Wednesday.

"Though I have not shown any symptoms, I have already commenced treatment.

"Let me advise those who have come in contact with me in the last couple of days to go for test.

"It is important that those who came in contact with other persons who have tested positive for the virus should go for test to ascertain their COVID-19 status.

"I urge Benue people and other Nigerians to continue to observe the protocol for the prevention of the virus."

Benue State has a total number of 749 COVID-19 cases (laboratory confirmed).

On the 26th of January 2021, 1,303 new confirmed cases and 15 deaths were recorded in Nigeria, according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

Till date, 124, 299 cases have been confirmed, 99,276 cases have been discharged and 1,522 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

As of 27 January 2021, more than 100 million cases have been confirmed, with more than 2.15 million deaths attributed to COVID-19.
