The President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, has announced a $26 billion relief package that will serve as a support to the South African economy, and the vulnerable citizens impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

During his public address, Ramaphosa said that “a massive social and economic support package of 500 billion rand ($26.3 billion), which amounts to about 10 percent of our GDP.
“The scale of this emergency programme is historical.”
