COVID-19: Russia Delivers Vaccine Samples To Nigeria

Russia ambassador to Nigeria Alexey Shebarshin has on Friday delivered samples of Russia COVID-19 vaccines to the Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire.

Making this disclosure in a statement, the Ministry of Health Media and Public Relations Director, Olujimi Oyetomi.disclosed that the vaccine was delivered during the Russian ambassador's visit to the ministry in Abuja on Friday.

Present at the receiving event was the Minister of State for Health, Olorunnimbe Mamora; top management of the Health Ministry, and other Nigerian Scientists.

It will be recalled that Russia’s President, Vladimir Putin, said his country approved a vaccine offering “sustainable immunity” against the lethal coronavirus.

Receiving the vaccines, Ehanire said that it will be immediately referred to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control as well as the Nigeria Institute of Pharmaceutical Research and Development, amongst other agencies for review and possible validation.
