On Saturday, Russia recorded a significant single day increase in coronavirus cases recorded, with the country recorded nearly 10,000 cases in just one day.
Russia recorded 9,623 cases, as disclosed by Russian authorities.
Although, the country's death toll is low as compared to other countries like the United States, Spain, and Italy.
In the past 24 hours, 57 deaths were recorded, making the death toll in the country 1,222.
The Mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, said that Moscow, which has become the country's epicentre of the outbreak was not past its peak of the outbreak yet.

He said, “The threat is apparently on the rise."
Over 5,000 new cases were recorded, making the total number of cases in Moscow 62,658.
The Mayor said, “According to screening tests of various population groups, the real number of the infected is around two per cent of Moscow’s total population."
The health ministry said on Friday that the number of infected children was on the rise. Two children had died from the coronavirus and 11 more were in a serious condition.
