The Singaporean Government has approved the use of remdesivir, an anti-viral drug, in the treatment of coronavirus patients that are in critical condition.
Earlier in the month of May, the United States approved the use of remdesivir in hospitals blazing the trails for countries like South Korea and Japan who followed suit, with some countries in Europe also using the drug.
Singapore's Health Sciences Authority said that it “expedited the review of remdesivir given the urgent public health need during the COVID-19 pandemic”.

Gilead Sciences, a US-based pharmaceutical company and developers of the drugs, has been required to watch the use of drugs, and collect data while it monitors the use of the drug in Singapore.
Singapore's recording of new cases after it ha effectively stemmed the spread of the virus has caused it to employ the drug in the treatment of the virus.
The new cases recorded in the country emerged from dormitories accommodating low-income foreign workers.
