In the past 24 hours, the United States has recorded 2,494 deaths from the novel coronavirus, this is according to a report by Johns Hopkins University.
In total, the death toll in the US has climbed to 53,511, with the total number of confirmed cases standing at 936,293.
The US remains the most hit country by the coronavirus pandemic both in terms of infection rates and deaths from the disease.

The toll of 2,494 was a jump from Friday, when the US recorded the lowest number of virus deaths — 1,258 — in nearly three weeks.
