COVID-19: US Suspends Funding To WHO

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has said that the US would be halting its funding to the World health Organisation (WHO) because the organisation was complicit in the covering up of the gravity of the virus' outbreak in China before it began to spread globally.

He said this while addressing the press, stating that he had urged his administration to suspend the funding of the organisation while  “a review is conducted to assess the World Health Organization’s role in severely mismanaging and covering up the spread of the coronavirus.”

Trump maintains that the WHO was not transparent on the issue of the novel coronavirus, and the US being the biggest benefactor of the WHO, donating $400 million the previous year, will “discuss what to do with all that money that goes to the WHO.”

“With the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have deep concerns whether America’s generosity has been put to the best use possible.”
