Professional Squash Zimbabwe player, Ahmed Hassan has refuted reports that his family, himself and his neighbours in Belvedere, a suburb of Harare, tested positive for the dreaded Coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
AllNews reports that Hassan, who is also into the business of supplying gas to households, urged people to always "take time to verify whether stories are true or not".
The 31-year-old world no. 230 wrote on his known Facebook page on Thursday:
"The rumours of my family, my neighbour's in Belvedere or me testing positive are fabricated stories.
"As an essential service supplying gas to households, we take it very seriously, not only for my families sake but to everyone at large to be 'responsible' and 'do the right thing' so as to prevent the spread of this virus.

"Social media is indeed a powerful platform, and I have today witnessed it first hand how people's personal lives and businesses can instantly be affected by negligent people who can't take the time to verify whether the stories are true or not.
"We don't need this as it will undoubtedly affect the community at large if officials are to get involved over something false.
"Please be responsible and stay safe."
