Customs Deploys Digital Technology To Meet N4.1Trillion Reve

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has deployed the use of digital technology to meet the revenue target of about N4.1 trillion for its 2022 operations.

This was revealed by the Area Comptroller of the Apapa command, Comptroller Yusuf Malanta, who promised that the agency was going to deploy technology to drive all resources to achieve this after it generated N2.24 trillion into the Consolidated Revenue Account (CRA) of the government in 2021.

The Customs Area Controller (CAC), Apapa command, Comptroller Yusuf Malanta, said the command was ready to actualize the revenue target for the year 2022, adding that the command collected N870.4 billion from importers last year.

The Area Comptroller revealed that despite the challenges that confronted them, the agency's revenue profile increased greatly by 68 percent in 2021, compared to the N518.4 billion collected in 2020.

According to him, "2022 is a year of hope and high expectations, particularly with the increase in the service revenue target to N4.1 trillion. For us in Apapa Area Command, we have already boarded and fastened our seat belts towards the realization of the target. "

"We hope that the service will leverage on the deployment of digital transformation of customs business processes, which will further take care of many control mechanisms through its risk management system. This transformation will further harmonize the activities of our stakeholders and move us towards seamless ease of doing business in the port.”

Finally, Malanta believes that with this digital support, surpassing their revenue target won’t be a difficult task.
