Customs Intercept Smuggled Donkey Skin, Petrol In Two Northe

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted smuggled raw donkey skin, petrol and other smuggled goods worth N19.4 million in two Northeast States.

The smuggled items were seized in August by the Adamawa/Taraba Command of the NCS.

This was revealed by Salisu Kazaure, the Comptroller in-charge of the command, on Thursday, Yola.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the seized items as revealed by Kazaure, included 200 pieces of raw donkey skin and vehicle used in conveying the smuggled commodity, as well as 127 bags of 50kg foreign rice.

The command also seized 12,355 litres of petrol inside Jerry cans.

“The command will not rest on its oars in the fight against smuggling being perpetrated along the waterways and on land. 

“We will sustain collaboration with sister agencies and relevant stakeholders to check this ugly trend, ” Kazaure said.

He further applauded the headquarters of the NCS for their prompt logistics support which led to the success recorded.
