Czech Midfielder Jankto Comes Out As Gay

Czech Midfielder Jankto Comes Out As Gay

Jakub Jankto

International footballer Jakub Jankto, who represents the Czech Republic and is currently playing for Sparta Prague on loan from Getafe, publicly came out as gay on Monday.

In a video posted on his Instagram account, the 27-year-old who has earned 45 caps and scored 4 goals for his country, expressed his desire to live freely without fear or prejudice.

He stated, "I am homosexual and I no longer want to hide myself." Jankto's announcement follows similar declarations made by Blackpool forward Jake Daniels in May 2022 and Australian footballer Josh Cavallo in 2021.

Jankto's announcement is a significant moment for the sport, as the number of openly gay footballers remains low.

Despite increasing visibility and acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community, many in the sport are still afraid to come out, due to concerns over the potential impact on their careers and personal lives.

Jankto's bravery in speaking out serves as an example to others who may be struggling with their own sexuality and highlights the importance of creating a more inclusive and accepting environment in football.

In his video, Jankto emphasized that he is just like everyone else and wants to live his life freely, with love, and without any fear. He said, "Like everybody else, I have my strengths.

I have my weaknesses. I have a family. I have my friends. I have a job which I have been doing it as best as I can, for years, with seriousness, professionalism and passion."

Jankto's statement highlights the fact that being gay is just one aspect of a person's identity, and that it should not define them or be used to discriminate against them.

Jankto's announcement has received widespread support from the football community, with many fans and players taking to social media to express their admiration for his bravery and support for the LGBTQ+ community.

The announcement is a major step forward for the sport and for society as a whole and serves as a reminder that everyone deserves to be accepted for who they are, regardless of their sexual orientation.

Jankto's announcement is a proud moment for the Czech Republic and the wider football community, and a shining example of the progress that can be made when people are true to themselves and live their lives with courage and authenticity.
