Dalot's Curler Edges Man Utd Past Sheffield

Diogo Dalot's stunning curler edged Manchester United past Sheffield United on Saturday night.

United won 2-1 at Bramall Lane following the passing of legendary former player Sir Bobby Charlton at the age of 86 four hours before kick-off.

In-form midfielder Scott McTominay put the visitors ahead with a well-taken effort just before the half hour.

But United's lead was short-lived as McTominay's handball gifted the hosts a penalty just minutes later.

Oli McBurnie stepped up to convert and drilled a superb spot-kick into the corner to draw the Blades level before half-time.

United were firing on all cylinders in the second half and hit the woodwork twice through Bruno Fernandes and Sofyan Amrabat in a bid to re-establish their lead.

But it was Dalot whose shot from distance sealed the three points, slipping past the hands of Wes Foderingham to pay a fitting tribute to Charlton's memory.

United have now moved up to 8th position with 15 points, five points adrift from the top four, while the Blades remain bottom of the Premier League following a run of nine games without a win.
