Dare Lauds Nigerian Wrestlers For Successful Outing In Tunis

The Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Sunday Dare has commended Nigerian wrestlers for doing the country proud at the just-concluded African Senior Wrestling Championships in Hammamet, Tunisia.

The Nigerian contingent won nine gold, four silver and two bronze medals, with the women’s team led by Blessing Oborududu reclaiming the top spot on the continent.

“The ministry is proud of what you have done and wants you to keep this progressive momentum going," said Dare in a statement in Abuja on Monday.

He then urged the Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF) led by former Olympic champion Daniel Igali not to rest on their oars.

“Sustaining this momentum will ensure that wrestling can get Nigeria on the podium again at the 2024 Olympics in Paris as was the case at Tokyo 2020,” the Minister added.
