De Bruyne Hails Robert Lewandowski As 'Best In The World'

De Bruyne Hails Robert Lewandowski As 'Best In The World'

De Bruyne Press Conference About Lewandowski

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has admitted that Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski is the best in the world for two years now.

The Belgian midfielder might be nudging his manager's head towards signing the Polish striker given the absence of a prolific scorer in the Manchester City squad since the departure of Sergio Kun Aguero.

Speaking at his pre-match conference ahead of the Champions League clash with Club Brugge, the Premier League best midfielder said, "If I have to choose, I'm looking at the two-year period because we didn't have one last year, I'd choose Lewandowski.

For what he has done the last two years goalscoring wise, he'd be my pick."

De Bruyne also turned attention to his team ultimate goal given their domestic dominance -- winning all the trophies in England.

"What we've done in England people expect us to win the CL and we want to," De Bruyne added.

"We always try to compete. In the last six years, we've been in the last 16 or the QF or better. We're always competing, we're trying to win it.

"Hopefully in my period here we can get one. It doesn't define your legacy, maybe for people outside. I'm happy with what we've done as a club for the last six years."

Manchester City currently sit at 3rd on their Champions League Group A, one point behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain and Club Brugge.
