Deborah Yakubu: One Dies As Youths Protest In Sokoto

One person has lost his life during a shooting to disperse protesting youths over the arrest of youths who allegedly killed a female student on Sokoto State.

Deborah Yakubu was killed and burnt after she sent a voice note to her school's WhatsApp group, allegedly insulting Prophet Muhammad.

After calls to bring the youths involved in the unfortunate incidence, police confirmed the arrest of two persons.

However, some youths on Saturday came out to protest, demanding the release of the youths.

They besieged the palace of the Sultan of Sokoto with the aim of getting authorities to release the arrested youths.

The Police threw tear gas to disperse the youths, and shot sporadically in the air, killing one and injuring others.
