Two lawmakers, Ephraim Nwuzi and David Abel, elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have dumped the party for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
AllNews reports that Nwuzi is the representative of Etche/Omuma Federal Constituency in Rivers State, while Abel is the representative of Gashaka/Kurmi/Sardauna Federal Constituency in Taraba State.
Reading the defection letters from the lawmakers, the speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila said that PDP failed to lay the foundation of sanctioning illegal defection when they were in power.

Opposing the defection, the Deputy Minority Leader, Toby Okechukwu; Minority Leader, Ndudi Elumelu; and leader of the PDP caucus, Kingsley Chinda, individually raised constitutional points of order, requesting that Gbajabiamila declared the defector's seats vacant as there were no crises in the party at the defectors’ respective states.
In reaction, Gbajabiamila who called the leaders of PDP hypocrites said he also protested against the defection of All Progressives Congress (APC) members to PDP as a minority leader in the previous assemblies but his arguments were thrown out.
“Like you used to tell me, your points are noted. Any more defections?” the speaker said.
