Delta State Police Allays Fears Amid Threat Of Herdsmen Atta

The police in Delta State have assured residents of providing security for them amid a recent threat of attack from suspected herdsmen in the region.

The assurance comes following a publication by a Fulani jihadist group threatening to carry out attacks in the state if its Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, does not withdraw the ban on open grazing.

Speaking via a press statement on Sunday, the Acting Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, stated that the publication comes from elements who just want to cause unnecessary panic among residents in the state.

According to Edafe, undercover police operatives have been deployed in parts of the state so as to gather the necessary intelligence.

He said, "Other proactive measures have been put in place by the command. Members of the public are also urged to continue to partner with the police, by providing useful information that will help in policing the state."
