Demarai Gray: Everton Winger Joins Al-Ettifaq In £10 Million Deal

Demarai Gray: Everton Winger Joins Al-Ettifaq In £10 Millio

Demarai Gray has joined Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq from Everton for a fee of around £10 million.

The move for the 27-year-old, who agreed a four-year deal with the club, also includes a sell-on clause.

His exit comes just days after he criticised Everton boss Sean Dyche in the aftermath of a failed switch to Fulham.

"Everton fans have always been great with me but it's so difficult to play for someone who don't show you respect as a person," said Gray, in taking a swipe at Dyche.

However, Dyche responded in an interview with Everton's website, saying Gray "didn't want to train" and "didn't want to be here."

A statement from Everton confirming Gray's exit reads: "Everton have sold Demarai Gray to Al-Ettifaq on a permanent transfer for an undisclosed fee.

"Gray moves on after the Blues opted to sell the 27-year-old forward to the Saudi Arabian club.

"It brings an end to his two-year spell on Merseyside, having signed from Bayer Leverkusen in 2021.

"Gray made 75 appearances and scored 12 goals for Everton.

"The Jamaica international started his career with hometown club Birmingham City before joining Leicester City in 2016."

Gray had also been linked with a move to Turkish side Besiktas before completing the switch to Saudi Arabia, where the transfer window closes on Thursday.

Al-Ettifaq are managed by former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard and have so far signed England midfielder Jordan Henderson, former Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, Scotland defender Jack Hendry and ex-Lyon striker Moussa Dembele.
