Democracy Day: Bring Benefits Of Democracy To Citizens’ Doorsteps — Lawmaker

Democracy Day: Bring Benefits Of Democracy To Citizens’ Do

The lawmaker representing Obokun State Constituency, Adewumi Adeyemi has urged politicians to bring the benefits of democracy to citizens’ doorsteps to make a greater contribution to national progress.

This was contained in a statement by Adeyemi and made available to journalists on Monday.

According to the lawmaker, the only way those who endure the scorching sun to cast their ballots should be treated better is by receiving the benefits of democracy.

"Nigeria should be celebrating more victories than calculating losses since the start of democracy 24 years ago while pushing political officeholders to focus more on education, infrastructure and health.

"The entire country should commemorate June 12 since it is a significant historical date.

"Its celebration goes beyond remembering the winner of the 1993 presidential election, Moshood Abiola, but a clear reflection of the will and purpose of every typical Nigerian who took part in the election.”

Adeyemi, who expressed his worries about the country’s continuing sense of pessimism, said he is very positive about the future if we place more of an emphasis on women and youth empowerment and education because they are the future of every society.

"The two most important process enhancements we’ve done so far are the electoral act and BVAS.

"The majority of Nigerians live in fear and poverty, therefore we should extend the same desperation to grassroots government at the same time as we work to make our elections transparent and fair," he continued.
