As Nigeria celebrated her Democracy Day on Sunday, the President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke said there was nothing worth celebrating in the country.
Speaking via the union's official handle on Twitter, Osodeke said the country had nothing to celebrate due to the state of the economy and the insecurity issues in the country among others.
"There was nothing worth celebrating as Nigeria marked Democracy.
“With a minimum wage of 30,000, which is less than a bag of rice, Nigerian workers are languishing in abject poverty," he said.
He urged Nigerians to vote for people who have clear plans for the country and vote out people who think they can buy votes with money.
"Vote out people who think they can buy votes with money, and VOTE for people with clear-cut plans to move the country forward,” he added.
