DeOndra Dixon: 5 Things To Know About Jamie Foxx's Sister

Oscar-winning Hollywood actor Jamie Foxx earlier took to Instagram to announce the passing on of his younger sister, DeOndra Dixon, who according to report, died on Monday, October 19.

DeOndra, born September 6, 1984, in Dallas, Texas, and lived in Thousand Oaks, California, died at the age of 36.

Foxx while sharing photos of them both, paid a tribute to her, saying "My heart is shattered into a million pieces... my beautiful loving sister Deondra has transitioned I say transitioned because she will always be alive... anyone who knew my sis... knew that she was a bright light..."

DeOndra who was born with Down Syndrome was famous for being a younger sister to the Hollywood movie star. Aside from that, she brought awareness to her disability throughout her life, and below are a few things you need to know about Foxx’s sister.

1. She was a passionate dancer, a confirmation Foxx made in his tribute to his late sister. “I can’t tell you how many times we have had parties at the house where she has got on the dance floor and stolen the show...” he wrote.

“Well I know she is in heaven now dancing with her wings on...tho my pain is unbelievable I smile when I think of all of the great memories that she left me... my family... and her friends… from dancing in the blame it video… to Dancing on the Grammys…

2. DeOndra started participating in Special Olympics while in the 6th grade. And participated in the Special Olympics for over 9 years, winning many awards and medals, according to an essay she wrote for the Global Down Syndrome Foundation.

3. She was also an ambassador to @globaldownsyndrome

4. Still in the Global Down Syndrome Foundation's essay, Foxx’s sister had said “My high school days were special. I participated in school plays and I went to all the dances. I loved the pep rallies. I enjoyed the football games. I graduated with my class from Terrell High School in Terrell, Texas in 2002.”

5. Foxx gave her the chance to do some special things and she won the Quincy Jones Exceptional Advocacy.
