Deposition rumour: DSS storm Emir of Kano's palace

The palace of the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero was on Thursday morning stormed by operatives of tge Department of State Service, DSS.

As at press time, AllNews.ng is reporting that the Kano State House of Assembly has passed a law dissolving al the four Emirates in Kano.

The dissolution of the affected Emirates was a sequel to deliberations on the floor of the House during plenary on Thursday.

The Kano State Emirates Council Amendment Bill was considered on the floor of the House after scaling second and third reading on Thursday morning.

Earlier, the Deputy Speaker, Muhammad Butu, explained that repealing the law would revive the lost glory of Kano as the division of Kano emirate to five reduced the capacity and dignity of the state at national level

The storming by the secret police was due as rumours of the imminent deposition of the Emir thickened.

This is coming on the back of the passage of the Kano State Emirates Council Amendment Law (repeal bill), 2024 by the state assembly on Thursday morning.

 Observers noted that some DSS operatives stationed in the palace.

Though the Emir of Kano was said to be in Ogun State on a private visit to Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, the security operatives were seen at the entrance of the palace waiting for any eventuality.

The law abrogated all offices created under the repealed law and if assented by Governor Abba Kabiru Yusuf, it becomes law and there are insinuation that the emir may be removed.

The passed bill provides that the governor shall take all necessary measures to restore Kano emirate to its previous position before the enactment of the repealed law.
