The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Idris Wase has appealed to the federal government, the House Committee on Labour, and the labour and education ministries to expedite action in addressing the lingering strike actions.
Wase made these remarks on the floor at the plenary during the emergency amendment consideration of the Electoral Bill by members of the House of Representatives in Abuja on Wednesday.
Recall that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) recently extended its three-month-old strike by 12 weeks.
He pleaded with the House Committee members that oversees the affairs of the labour ministry to expedite action for the sake of the youths who need to be engaged positively towards nation building.
