DFB Pokal: Debutant Choup-Moting Hits Brace As Bayern Defeats Duren

DFB Pokal: Debutant Choup-Moting Hits Brace As Bayern Defeat

Bayern Munich's new signing, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting delivered a stellar performance for the German Champions in the DFB Pokal after scoring 2 goals, he set up the 3rd in form of a penalty for Thomas Muller in a 3-0 defeat over amateurs Duren.

AllNews understands that most of Bayern's first XI were on International duty so several players in the squad were not away on national duty including the Cameroonian.

Hansi Flick rotated his squad heavily using most of their recent signings - Douglas Costa, Marc Roca, and Choupo-Moting in the formation set-up.

The first goal on the night was scored by Choupo-Moting as a beautiful low ball from Sarr as met with Choupo's outstretched leg to find the back of the net.

For the second goal, the Cameroonian forward received a pass in the box, attempted a dribble, and was brought down as the referee spotted a penalty which was taken by Muller.

Thomas Muller sent the keeper the wrong way with a powerful shot into the net.

The third by Choupo-Moting was a very exquisite ball from the edge of the box, sent a curler to the top-right corner of the post, Jackmuth, the Duren's goalkeeper stood no chance.

The European Champions were never threatened by the fifth division club and should even have scored more than three on the night.

There was no VAR in the match as it was not used at the stage of the competition.

Bayern travels to Arminia Bielefield in the Bundesliga on Saturday and hosts Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League later on Wednesday.
