Discos urge protesters to avoid property destruction

DisCos and Planned Electricity Hikes

The Association of Nigerian Electricity Distributors, Discos, has called for an end to the destruction of property, amid ongoing protests that began on August 1.

They emphasized that, while protesting is a fundamental right, violence and vandalism are unacceptable.

In a recent statement, Sunday Oduntan, Executive Director of Research & Advocacy at Discos, said, “There was a lot of damage during the last #EndSARS protest. We cannot continue to destroy our property in the name of protest.”

He labeled those engaging in violent acts as unpatriotic, urging citizens to avoid repeating the property destruction seen previously.

The protests, which have spread across several states including Kano, Borno, Yobe, Kaduna, Gombe, Bauchi, the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, Niger, and Jigawa, have resulted in significant property damage.
