Djokovic retains world number 1 ATP ranking

World number 1 Novak Djokovic retained his number one place in the official men's ATP ranking released on Monday and has extended his stay at the top of the table to 427 weeks.

The 24-time Grand Slam winner will also remain in his pole position until at least after the French Open when the rankings will be updated.

The Serbian Djokovic increased his lead at the top by 100 points following his run to the semi-final of the Geneva Open and he now sits on 9,960 points – a 1,190-point lead over Sinner in second place.

Sinner however could overtake him eventually depending on how both men fare at the French Open.

Djokovic's lead is a healthy one but as different rules are in Grand Slams, it means that Sinner could overtake the more illustrious campaigner who may lose 2,000 points.

There were no changes in the top 10 alBEIT Casper Ruud was a big winner as he earned 240 points after winning the Geneva Open title last weekend.

Alexander Bublik moved up three places to No. 17 after reaching the semi-final of the Lyon Open while the man who beat him at the ATP 250 event, Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, is in the top 100.

Tomas Machac – the man who ended Djokovic’s run in Geneva – also climbed to a career-high as he moved up 10 places to No 34.
