Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from next week's Madrid Open as a result of an elbow injury.
Madrid Open organisers confirmed in a tweet on Saturday that the 22-time Grand Slam champion will be unable to compete in the tournament while wishing the 35-year-old Serb a speedy recovery.
“@DjokerNole is unable to compete at the #MMOPEN,” the event tweeted.
“Wishing you a speedy recovery, we hope to see you back on court as soon as possible, Nole.”

The announcement comes just a month out from the French Open, with Rafael Nadal having also already confirmed he will not compete in Madrid because of a hip injury.
Djokovic has played only two tournaments since early March, having missed Indian Wells and the Miami Open after being denied entry to the United States.
The world number one is due to begin his quest for an overall men's record 23rd Grand Slam title at the French Open Roland Garros on 28 May.
