DMX: Public Memorial For Late Rapper Set For April 24

The details for the public memorial of late rapper Earl 'DMX' Simmons have been revealed and it is scheduled for April 24, 2021.

Per a TMZ report, the late hip-hop star will be honoured by family, friends, and fans on the aforementioned date at Brooklyn's Barclays Center. His manager, Steve Rifkind, spoke with the news outlet and mentioned that they were still working things out (including ticketing and the number of people who will be present due to the pandemic.

The next day after the memorial, DMX's family and close friends will be present at the private funeral at an unnamed church somewhere in the New York City area.

Since the Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood passed away on April 9, tributes have poured in, with friends and collaborators sending messages. 

Swizz Beatz, a producer of many of DMX's tracks, uploaded an emotional video on Instagram, captioning the post: "I'm truly beyond devastated!!! But I'm so happy my brother is no longer in pain.

"I watched him take everyone's pain and make it his own. I send my love and support to his entire family. My brother, we will never let them forget your name and you will live forever F.A.M.E. 

"Long live King DMX THE GREAT AKA my brother 4 Life Earl Simmons."

Joaquin "Waah" Dean, who founded Ruff Ryders with his siblings, also paid tribute to the late star on Instagram, writing: "Forever my brother. May God bless you and take you into his paradise.

"You will always be my brother for life. Let's celebrate the dog for all the work he put in here. My dog for life. RR."
