Do Not Engage In Sharp Practices — Ondo NYSC Accountant

The Head, Accounts Branch of NYSC Ondo State, Folasade Lasaki has warned corps members not to engage in sharp practices as this leads to destruction of destinies.

The State Accountant made the warning when she sensitised the 2021 Batch 'C' (Stream II) corps members about the operations of the Accounts and Finance Branch.

Mrs. Lasaki said that members of the service corps should be seen at all times to be above board in all their interactions and transactions so that the privilege bestowed upon them as treasured citizens of the country would not be misplaced.

"Gentlemen corps members, I want to charge you not to engage in any act perceived to be negative or that can bring the name of this noble scheme into disrepute as NYSC management will not fold her arms and watch helplessly actions aimed at bringing down the glory of the scheme built over forty eight years ago".

"The uniform you are wearing is not a liberty for you to engage in acts inimical to the good image of the Scheme. You have been sensitised by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) and Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on the consequences of not placing one's hand where it should be and this is to tell you that NYSC has zero tolerance for all forms of crimes, corruption and indiscipline".

"You are mobilised and deployed to serve the nation and contribute your quota to the overall development of this great country and not to shortchange the system by engaging in sharp practices at your various places of primary assignment. The NYSC uniform is not an immunity and whosoever goes against the constitution of the Federal Government, as amended would be dealt with in accordance with the provisions of the law".

"Government is not relenting at ensuring that you are comfortable in all the places you would be posted to. The lecture on Corps Welfare and Health Services will dealt deeply on this and I want to assert that Federal Government through NYSC pays serving corps monthly allowance as at when due" she said.

"The service year is rewarding and fulfilling for disciplined, committed and focused corps members and I want you to be selfless in your service to the nation so that at the end of it all, posterity will be kind to you".

The certified accountant advised the corps members to always seek clarification on matters and issues not clear to them from the appropriate persons in the NYSC Secretariat and desist from believing unverified information given them by their fellow corps members.

"I want to admonish you to seek relevant information from appropriate quarters within the NYSC Secretariat and never concede to people requesting you to share your personal bank account details with them".

"Meanwhile, let me tell you that for you to operate the account you opened in the camp beyond the five digits, you need to upgrade it because any deposit or withdrawal beyond the five digits would automatically not be processed" she hinted.

"The information of your bank account details is personal to you and not to be shared with third party who are desirous of defrauding you by asking you to supply such information for them to make particular services available to you. If you must give your personal account details, please, visit in person any branch of your bank and do the transaction" she concluded.
